Some of the doctors are ok but dear God the receptionist (one in particular, you’ll know which one if you are with this practice and others have left reviews on her too) is horrendously rude and passive aggressive for no reason. Please seek anger management help and stop taking it out on patients. Do better.
I've been a patient at the Fairhill Medical Practice for over 45 years and I would thoroughly recommend it.
I have always found the reception staff to be competent, friendly and helpful.
When I come to give blood for testing, the nurses have always made sure that the process is quick and easy.
The doctors are caring and eager to be of assistance.
The appointment system works well and I never have any problem in arranging to see someone.
I felt compelled to write and say thank you so much for being such a fantastic bunch of. I had a lovely chat with the reception staff (I am sorry I didn’t get their names)before my appointment who were both friendly and helpful, making me feel at ease and were just generally nice!
I would also like to say a particularly big thank you to Dr Cleese (Amy) you were so kind and genuinely listened to my concerns, you made me feel heard and at last now I feel I am getting the support and hopefully medication I need.
Just felt I needed to write and say how grateful I am as people are all to quick to complain!
I have had the same issues with the receptionist staff as other reviewers have said. A complete lack of care or empathy considering they are sometimes dealing with very sick people sometimes mentally. Absolutely been rude to me on the phone and in email communications and then have issues when a complaint is made or I am upset. It’s a shame as the doctors are all so lovely! However the first set of people we have to interact with causes so much stress sometimes I’m sick and stay away!
Have had repeated run-ins with the receptionists, cancelling my appointments without telling me but when I have missed literally one appointment they have been straight on the phone to lecture me. Never bothered to call up hospitals when I have needed them to, and have had to ask them to do their jobs. Not a lot of care and attention from doctors either, and they charge over £40 for the simplest of letters that need to be written otherwise there will be a lapse in your ‘care’ - so you are basically forced to pay the fee. Not happy.
I’m 8.5 months pregnant and felt really unwell this morning when I booked an appointment with my GP. I was 4 minutes late to my appointment precisely as my first child wouldn’t let me leave the house in the morning. When I arrived to my appointment, it was 8.14 (the appointment was booked for 8.10) and the receptionist told me my appointment was being cancelled due to my late arrival. I explained that a typical appointment lasts at least 7 minutes and that I won’t actually need more than a couple of minutes with the doctor as I just need him to prescribe the medication I’ve been on against nausea and now ran out of. I wasn’t allowed to attend. I then managed to book another appointment for later in the morning and when I arrived for my second appointment - which was confirmed on the app and by email - they told me they would need to cancel it as I ‘missed’ the first appointment in the morning….
I appreciate different GP practices have different policies and that it was my fault for being 4 (!) minutes late but I would also expect a bit more empathy towards a heavily pregnant woman who is feeling unwell. Both receptionists didn’t seem to care at all and were in fact quite rude.
My GP on the other hand is great, but it’s a shame the system that is meant to support you fail to do so. Especially when you pay so much tax to support them!
I had an extremely disappointing experience with the reception staff at this GP practice. They were unprofessional, dismissive, and lacked basic empathy. I was spoken to in a mocking tone over the phone, asked to be quiet when trying to explain my concerns, and promised a call back that never happened.
As a result, my child was left without essential milk .This is not only negligent, but shows a complete lack of respect and responsibility.
I do not recommend this practice to anyone. The way they treat people is unacceptable, and their attitude toward patients’ needs is shockingly careless.
