I gave birth to my baby girl via C-section at Barnet Hospital in April 2026, and I cannot praise the team enough. From start to finish, my experience was exceptional. The surgical team was amazing, and I would especially like to thank Dr Jay, who was not only highly skilled but also kind, approachable, and reassuring throughout the process. Every single member of staff I encountered was wonderful – the anaesthetist, midwives, nurses, doctors, and even the lady who brought the meals each day. Everyone treated me with kindness, care, and professionalism, which made such a difference during an important and emotional time. I am also incredibly grateful to the charity volunteers who knit hats and blankets for newborn babies. We were in need of a hat and were able to choose the cutest pink one for our baby girl, which was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. Throughout my pregnancy, I attended Barnet Hospital for all my scans and appointments. Although the hospital can be very busy, I always received excellent care and service. The staff consistently went above and beyond to make me feel supported and well looked after. THANK YOU to all the amazing staff who work so hard every day. Your dedication, compassion, and expertise made my experience a truly positive one. I am extremely grateful, and if I have another baby in the future, I would definitely choose Barnet Hospital again.

I gave birth at Barnet Hospital a couple of weeks ago, and I had a very positive experience overall. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the staff and midwives who supported me throughout my stay. I had a difficult delivery, but the midwives were incredibly helpful, caring, and supportive from start to finish. I would especially like to thank Jetta, Jee, Georgia, her student, and many other staff members whose names I unfortunately cannot remember—my apologies for that. I was discharged on 20 May 2026 at around 6 pm. The doctor who carried out my discharge was also very kind, polite, and calm, which made the process much easier for me. Both my partner and I had a very good experience, and we are truly grateful for the care and support we received. Thank you to Barnet Hospital and all your staff for the amazing job you are doing.

The a&e pediátrics in this hospital is by far the WORST I’ve ever seen! I gave 1 star because I cannot give zero. Lack of staff, lack of communication and zero empathy for children and worried parents. I genuinely don’t know how they can sleep at night. I took my 14 month old with 40 degrees temperature which you would think is priority. Well we were waiting for 10 hours from 10:30 pm till 7am and the best is in all that time no doctor came to see us. Apart from all this, you’d ask the nurses what was going on and the only thing they could say is well your number two in the list or we only have ONE DOCTOR in the whole department, we literally got told we’re next for 4 hours, what kind of torture is that…. Never again. Then you would ask them what they’d do once we get seen so we can assess whether is worth waiting and they’ll say we don’t know… I genuinely believe their jobs are now to torture people so they don’t return… the only choice is to pay for your healthcare, you’d think there was still a chance for young kids… unfortunately there’s not that’s the current situation…

I had a terrible experience. At the Maternity Unit, I waited over 7 hours because of reduced baby movements, lower back pain, and abdominal pain. I had my 1-year-old baby with me because I had nobody to leave him with at home. We were there from around 2–3 p.m. until 10–11 p.m. Considering that before my first baby I had a history of 3 miscarriages, and with the baby I gave birth to I experienced sepsis complications during labour and had to undergo an emergency C-section because his heart rate was dropping, the situation was extremely stressful for me. On top of that, there was a particular lady working the second shift in the Maternity Unit on the date 20.05.2026 — unfortunately I could not see her name. She was blonde/light brown-haired, wore glasses, and was extremely rude. She deeply disappointed me and honestly made me no longer want to give birth at Barnet Hospital. Whenever I went to ask her how much longer it would take for my case to be reviewed, she would roll her eyes and clearly showed no care or compassion. I cannot describe how much stress this caused me — I genuinely felt like my blood pressure was rising beyond normal limits. Because of people like this, hospitals receive negative feedback. I keep thinking about how frightening it would be to be giving birth or going through a difficult moment and be treated by someone with such a rude attitude. I believe a hospital should provide trust, reassurance, and safety, especially during the difficult moments of pregnancy. Some women may already be carrying deep physical and emotional pain, and then someone like this completely destroys their morale instead of offering support and compassion.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the maternity services at Barnet Hospital. Although I received my maternity care at St Thomas’ Hospital, I needed to have a C-section at Barnet as it was closer to my home. The team were outstanding. The doctors, anaesthetist, maternity coordinator and midwife Aisha were all exceptional. Every professional treated me with care, empathy and reassurance throughout the procedure, which made a significant difference during what can be a very emotional and vulnerable time. The post-birth experience was more challenging, mainly because the ward was shared with several other mothers and babies, all navigating their own emotions and learning experiences. Fortunately, we were discharged the following day. Every professional who cared for us during our stay was kind, supportive and respectful. The only disappointment was our experience with Dr Baul from the neonatal team regarding a vaccine decision we had made after thorough research and careful consideration long before the birth. Despite us clearly communicating that we had reached an informed decision, she repeatedly revisited the subject and did not appear willing to respect our choice. During the discussion, she stated that our baby could suffer from “bleeding in the brain and brain damage” if we proceeded with our decision and repeatedly asked whether we were sure, returning several times with leaflets and further requests for us to reconsider. I felt that this approach crossed the line from providing information into coercion. These topics are extremely sensitive, and patients’ informed decisions should be respected regardless of differing professional or personal opinions. Informed consent should be encouraged, but coercion should not form part of that process. I was also disappointed to later discover that it had been documented that I shouted during the interaction, which is inaccurate. During an already vulnerable moment, this experience left me feeling unsettled and distressed. Aside from this incident, every other doctor, midwife and member of staff we encountered treated us with kindness, professionalism and respect, and for that we remain very grateful.

My experience at Barnet Hospital A&E was extremely disappointing. I waited around 10 hours to be seen, which is simply unacceptable. When I asked for an update, I was repeatedly told they were "busy," yet over a period of about five hours I only saw one patient called through. It genuinely felt like nobody cared about the people waiting. The staff came across as rude, dismissive, and lacking empathy. Instead of keeping patients informed or showing any concern, they seemed uninterested in how long people had been waiting or the distress it was causing. As a taxpayer, I left feeling that both my time and public money had been wasted. The service I received was nowhere near the standard that people should expect from an emergency department. In my opinion, the NHS urgently needs major improvements, particularly in A&E services. Long waits, poor communication, and a lack of accountability are failing patients, and it feels like there is not enough government action to address these ongoing problems. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Barnet Hospital A&E.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the student midwife, Joy. She was incredibly kind, caring, and helpful throughout my stay. During my delivery, which was a very challenging and emotional time, Joy provided constant support and reassurance. She showed genuine concern for my wellbeing and cared for me with compassion and professionalism. Joy went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and supported, almost like having a family member by my side. Her kindness, encouragement, and dedication made a significant difference to my experience. I am truly grateful for the excellent care and support she provided from the beginning of my labour until my discharge. Thank you, Joy, for your outstanding care and for being there when I needed support the most. You are a credit to the maternity team, and I wish you every success in your future career as a midwife. 💐

A HUGE thank you to all the maternity staff at Barnet, who took excellent care of our daughter and precious newborn grandson! It wasn't straightforward, but their exceptional skills, and great kindness, made the whole experience as positive as possible. We are so grateful to you all🙏
