I had a great experience from start to finish. The staff were polite and helpful when I booked my ophthalmology exam, and the appointment was punctual. I also loved the variety of glasses available and the excellent customer service throughout, including when collecting my glasses. Everything was quick, and my new glasses were ready in just eight days. This was my second visit to the Swords store, and once again the service was excellent.
Great experience at specsavers yesterday. I'm on crutches so had 2 be seen on ground level. It was no problem for the staff to cater for my needs. The optician was lovely and the guy who showed me glasses was very friendly and helpful.
My experience at Specsavers was not very positive overall. I felt that, regardless of the outcome of the tests (hearing or eye test), there was a strong tendency to move quickly towards selling a product.
In the hearing test, I was told I had a mild hearing loss on some frequencies, but also that this was still within the normal range for my age. Despite this, the discussion quickly shifted to recommending a hearing aid, which felt quite fast given the nature of the topic.
In the eye test, I only use glasses for reading and my distance vision is fine. A very small change in prescription (0.25) was identified. I explained that I did not want to replace my glasses that day as I was about to go on holiday and my current frames are still new. This was met with a strong push towards buying new glasses or additional pairs.
When I clearly said I would not be purchasing anything that day and asked for my prescription, it was provided, but I was also given a leaflet discouraging the use of online or alternative providers, which felt unnecessary in that context.
Overall, while I have no reason to believe the tests themselves are not technically valid, the aggressive sales approach made me question the overall balance of the consultation.
The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Both the team and the doctors answered all my questions with patience and clarity, leaving no uncertainties behind. The equipment at Specsavers feels very advanced and high quality. The eye examination was incredibly detailed and thorough, and it genuinely felt like they care about properly assessing your eye health instead of rushing through appointments. I left feeling reassured and confident in their care.
Booking appointment online is easy and straight forward even last minute booking is super fast. I booked it about 2 hours before my appointment and I was able to get it. No long waiting. Also, the staff were very knowledgable and answered all my query during my visit. So getting a super fast appointment and no waiting plus a great customer service is a big points specially in a very busy season. I could have give 10 points but only because of the frame that is not supported by Specsavers. It would be great if a specialised frame can be supported in some ways. If Specsavers was able to fit in a lense for my frame with a bluetooth speaker, this would be a 10 out of 10 visit.
The optician who examined my sons eyes was absolutely fantastic, so patient, my son has autism and can find situations like that very stressful. Thanks to the wonderful optician he felt very comfortable. I wish I knew her name. Thank you. The date was the 5th of March
All of the staff were so lovely and helpful to deal with, from the girls downstairs who helped me pick out my first pair of glasses and showed me how to use contacts, to the lady upstairs who was so kind during my scans and the optometrist who was so informative. When I came to pick up my glasses all of the staff were so helpful again and the man who fitted them for me made sure they were perfect. I highly recommend this branch!
Beware of Upselling: I had a poor experience due to excessive upselling. Having chosen a pair of glasses I opted for special offer on a second pair. However this is where the upselling started. I was offered a tinted lense, which I agreed to but then it was anti scratch option, which I agreed to also but when I was offered insurance a bell went off in my head. I said no I didn’t want it. She said “the insurance”, I said I don’t want anything, no tint, no anti scratch. She was stunned .Now the assistant was very friendly, affable, courteous but over trained, as I told her. Finally I decided not to make the purchase and paused the transaction as I felt I was being manipulated for Specksaves benefit not mine.
