I was referred by my VHI doctor this morning to Mater Private, emergency department, Urgent Cardiac as I required a serum troponin test to be done. I arrived at 13:02 Private Consultation, it took me over 2 hours for the triage. During the triage room the nurse was about to take my blood test and suddenly her work phone rings and she starts serving a patient query, and clarifying questions. Once she finishes she returns after to finalise the blood test and tell me to wait for the doctor that I would be called shortly Here I’m now sitting at the waiting room for over 3 hours waiting to hear back the results from the Cardiologist. This is absolutely appalling. It’s completely disrespectful leaving a patient in pain sitting on the waiting room, waiting to see the doctor. I have asked the reception just now and I was informed that it can take one more hour. In the Hospital website advertise a false service, which states the following: Upon arrival, you will be seen by our emergency team within 20 minutes, ensuring a smooth and seamless journey, with access to our high-quality, acute clinical infrastructure on-site if needed. The services advertised are a false claim that you can trust the PRIVATE SERVICE. This is not a private service AT ALL and I’m very disappointed. I will also leave reviews on Google and any other website that I come across to ensure people AVOID using the PRIVATE service in this hospital.

Dr. Róisín Lonergan and Mater Private Neurology I had a private consultation with Dr. Lonergan in October 2025, which was thorough and resulted in referrals for further scans. Unfortunately, the follow up communication with both Dr. Lonergan and the Mater Private Neurology administration was very disappointing. I emailed twice in early February to request an update and to provide my new GP details, and received no acknowledgment. When I eventually called, I was told my emails had been forwarded to the doctor. I also asked whether my GP details had been updated, and was told, quite abruptly, that I needed to provide them, suggesting my emails had not been properly read. As I still had no response, I emailed again requesting copies of my referrals so I could arrange the scans elsewhere, as I no longer wished to proceed with Mater Private. I also asked to cancel my follow up appointment scheduled for April. Again, there was no reply. My GP contacted them twice requesting the same information and also received no response. After a second call, Dr. Lonergan contacted me directly, apologised, took responsibility, and confirmed she would send the referrals to my GP, which I appreciated. However, instead of doing so as requested, she sent them internally within Mater Private, and I was contacted with an appointment, which I cancelled. I followed up again by email and phone to complain, and I was simply told I would need to wait for the referrals, as the doctor was on annual leave. In the end, I contacted Mater Private Radiology directly and received the referrals within minutes, which I then forwarded to my GP. I also discovered that my address had been recorded incorrectly on the referrals. Overall, this experience has been quite frustrating, especially given the cost of private healthcare. Poor communication, failure to provide requested documentation, and disregarding my explicit request are both concerning and unprofessional.

Awful experience. Made me wait 45 mins for a physio that was called in sick. Still waiting for my scan results and invoice. Amazing at charging extortionate fees and really quick at that part. Re service. Pile of rubbish. I'll be heading back to the crappy NHS via ryan air.

My experience at the Mater Private cardiology department was very poor. From admin to clinical care there was an consistent lack of attention to detail. The patient liason/complaints department quite simply do not want to know. After a significant waste of time, energy and money I left to attend another hospital and only then did I recieve proper care. Falls well below expected standards.

I had an appointment for a DEXA scan at the Mater Private on Friday 19th September which was cancelled and I still haven’t received a refund. I’ve reached out several times but nobody has been able to help or provide an update. It’s beyond frustrating at this point and completely unacceptable to be left waiting this long for a simple refund.

First time went for an appointment with their radiology department, the process was quick and efficient. Reached much before the actual appointment time, yet was acknowledged immediately with needed intervention. The staffs were great. Recently underwent a small procedure in their day care unit, the reception/admission staffs, doctor's secretary, nurses and doctors were so helpful and supportive. The nurses/doctors especially were very empathetic. The Operation theatre, patient ward were well maintained and did seem to have latest equipments and setup. Covid test was taken a day or two before the procedure (only for people undergoing procedure in the hospital) and it was super quick, the staffs were kind. (Isolated from main hospital located in their basement - car park area) Followup consultation based on appointment was at their suites (buildings opposite to the main hospital, segregated from the regular patients at hospital) which was quiet and not crowded. The hospital food/canteen facility serves good hygienic food. The hospital has organized measures to ensure COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. A big thanks to all who played a part during my time there.

My husband was admitted for kidney stone observation and received care only during the early morning hours. From morning on 03/12 onwards, he got no medication or treatment all day, yet had to wait hours just for one doctor to discharge him. This unnecessary delay felt like the hospital prioritizing an extra overnight charge over efficient patient care

This hospital is actually on eccles street and entrance is also on same street, google however says it's on Inn's quay. Place looks like a hotel I must say. Clinics are across the road, opposite the building. This place is different from the Mater hospital which is a public hospital. I think you need private insurance to get into this place. Car park available but expensive.
