Avoid Dr. Bates.
My partner recently visited this practice seeking help from a GP. She left the appointment more confused than when she went in and was too upset to write a review herself, so I’m posting on her behalf.
My partner needed help understanding her medical issue, the general healthcare framework in Ireland, and how to plan her care over the coming months.
He rattled off a list of tasks without explanation, recommended a supplement which, on googling is four times the recommended dose, and just did not listen to her concerns. Several of her questions were brushed aside. The appointment lasted only a few minutes and she came out more confused than when she went in. She was told she needed to obtain a GP medical card before returning (she does not qualify for one).
To make matters worse, she arrived on time but was left waiting 40 minutes while he was on the phone.
I’m keeping this intentionally general to protect her medical privacy, but based on her experience I would strongly advise others to consider their options before booking with Dr. Bates. Who is cold and robotic, more like an AI assistant than a GP.
The practice is 3.8 on google.. the other GPs here have glowing reviews so they are bringing it up massively.
I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Bates.
I booked an appointment to discuss my chronic disease, which is actually a very well-known and widely recognized condition, yet surprisingly he had never even heard of it. When I mentioned that doctors in my home country, Brazil, have been successfully treating this disease with medications supported by published research, he responded by saying he could never trust Brazilian doctors because Brazil is a “third-world country.”
I found this comment deeply offensive and extremely unprofessional.
A doctor who is not up to date on common medical conditions and who openly disrespects healthcare professionals from other countries is the last thing patients expect from a GP.
Brazil has many highly respected doctors and internationally recognized medical professionals, and no patient should ever feel judged or belittled because of where they come from.
Dr Mitchell has such a great bedside manner. Ive been coming here over 2 years and ive had a couple of complex ailments that she really helped with through her professionalism, but also her great care and interest she shows in her patients. Ive had my regular nurse check ups and vaccines too, theyve all been really lovely there. Mike
Dealt with Dr Bates via the EDoc service for our 1 year old - the most shockingly unhelpful interaction I’ve ever had with a medical professional. He was rude, hostile and barely engaged with us as we tried to get answers or reassurance about how to help our sick child. Avoid if you can.
You couldn’t ask for a finer doctor, truly. He took great care of us all throughout covid, and I always feel very comfortable attending his practice. Both he, the other doctor, the nurses, and all the staff are excellent – you’re always treated with the utmost kindness and respect there.
I feel incredibly lucky to have been under the care of Dr. Corrina Mitchell over the past few months. She has been helping me get to the bottom of a long-standing illness, and throughout it all, she has shown unwavering dedication, kindness, and thoroughness. Dr. Mitchell takes the time to listen carefully, explain things clearly, and follow through on every detail—always making me feel heard, supported, and genuinely cared for. Her compassionate and methodical approach has made a world of difference during a difficult time, and I’m so grateful for her continued support. I couldn’t recommend her more highly to anyone looking for a doctor who truly goes above and beyond.
Awful experience with Dr Killian. Rude, cold, overly assertive, condescending and patronizing. Spoke like a robotic medical dictionary. Do not recommend this practice. Switch doctors.
